Park and general update–15 months.

Amy was very happy today! We went to a little park by the river which is very suitable for her age.

There were lots of small things to climb on, perfect for a toddler!

She loved playing peek-a-boo through little windows in the play house.

Amy is learning to use a fork. She did pretty well for her first try.

She was trying to stab the food, so she knew what to do after watching me.

Our little chatterbox continues to amaze us with her speech. Words are becoming clearer, and some words are slightly changing!

Her bike (which she had been pronouncing ‘bise’) - she now calls ‘bikey’.

We love to sing wheels on the bus with our own lyrics, so Amy can join in.

e.g. we sing:

“Pa on the bus goes Pa Pa Pa, Pa Pa Pa, Pa Pa Pa,

Pa on the bus goes Pa Pa Pa, all day long”

Amy loves to join in singing the last “Pa Pa Pa”.

We do other versions involving Nanna/Nana, Sal, Mummy, Daddy, and Amy.

Its definitely her favourite song! She always requests we sing about Pa first Smile.

Amy says so many words now I have lost count, but I estimate about 20.

She tries to say new words every day. Her latest phrase is “all done”.

Her favourite toys are her baby, puppy, mega blocks and duplo.

A busy weekend.

Yesterday we went to visit Nanna. On the way Amy kept saying “Nanna” over and over.

I showed her the photo of Nanna so she would understand which Nanna we were going to see.

Amy enjoyed crawling and walking around Nanna’s house, exploring every room!

We played for hours! She enjoyed reading her new book with Nanna.

This book has every day objects which she loves pointing to and trying to identify.

She also loves the dolls pram! It was originally my toy pram when I was a little girl. Then Ethan and Ben would play with it, and now it’s Amy’s turn.

She loves pushing it, but also likes sitting in it! Nanna pushed her around the house and she had a big grin on her face.

Today we have been very very busy. We went to the shops in the morning to buy Amy a swimming costume for lessons next Saturday.

We then came home for some lunch and then put Amy to bed. But….

Amy didn’t want to sleep. She was very very upset and we eventually got her up again.

So we played some more…

Amy loves sitting on her couch. Sal gave it to her for her first Christmas. Its been thoroughly enjoyed in the last year and now she can position herself in a sitting position on it.

She thinks she is very clever, and so do I Smile.

Baby!

Amy LOVES her ‘Baby’.

We had to get her a new one last week, as the original one (bought only at Christmas) broke!

It’s leg fell off (possibly from being flung around by its leg)!

So Nanna was kind and purchased Amy Baby #2.

This baby is the same but has a soft torso, so its a bit easier for Amy to manipulate.

Happy Birthday Nanna!

Today is Nanna’s birthday! We joined Sal, Tracie, Ben and Ethan at Nanna’s house for a lovely lunch to celebrate.

Amy had fun in the pool, especially with Aunty Sal playing Humpty Dumpty, falling off the wall over and over again.

We will be starting swimming lessons in a couple of weeks, which I’m sure she will love.

Here is a lovely family photo:

Nanna cooked a lovely lunch and I made her a special dessert/cake – Chocolate Cheesecake! It was loved by all!!

Everyone had a great day, especially Nanna. Sal bought her some beautiful flowers too.

Amy is becoming quite affectionate with her Nanna. She gives her cuddles and asks after her when she walks out of the room.

Happy Birthday Nanna, we hope your day was as special as you are.

Cuddles!

Amy now understands what a ‘cuddle’ means. And I have to say, this is one of my favourite things she has learned!

Michael and I are getting so many lovely cuddles lately. Her head lies on our chest and tiny arms wrapped around us.

We were practicing cuddling toys a few weeks ago, so she learned what the word meant.

New words Amy can say:

Afternoon tea

Sal

E (Ethan)

Ben

Ashleigh (Educator at day care)

Nappy (pronounced ‘pee pee’)

Poo

Inside

Wipes (pronounced ‘Bipe’)

Eyes

Ears

Nose

Mouth

Book

Car (pronounced ‘Da’)

She understands more and more of what we say. For example, I’ll say “put your shoes in the basket” and she will do it.

Or “it’s time for dinner, go to the highchair” and she will.

Water-play park

Yesterday we went to a fantastic water-play park not far from our house.

Amy had a great time playing with all the water jets. It was a hot day so she enjoyed getting wet!

Poor Amy has been teething quite badly this past week. She was downright miserable for a few days, with high temperatures and very sore gums.

The top molars are about half way through, so that makes 12 now.

I can see a bottom eye tooth close to the surface, so I’m sure this next set of teeth wont be far away.

Daddy’s on holidays!

This week Michael has enjoyed some well deserved holidays from work.

We have been shopping, swimming, playing, visiting family and just relaxing at home.

Here is Amy having a ride on a little boat in a shopping centre.

It was quite funny actually. I sat her on it while Michael was having a look in a shop. She played with the steering wheel and enjoyed sitting in each different seat.

She then leant around and pushed the start button. Much to my surprise it started moving around in circles!

Someone obviously left some money in the machine. Amy enjoyed the ride and I walked around in circles next to her to make sure she didn’t fall out!

I met up with a friend last week. The kids had fun playing in the sand. Amy also taste-tested the sand. :/

Amy now sleeps with a cup of water, if she becomes thirsty in the night. We have had quite a few warm nights and I’m finding she is drinking quite a lot.

This is Amy’s favourite new book. I printed out some photos of our family members.

She looks at it every day and has started pointing to and naming each person.

Happy New Year!

Happy new year everyone!

We have been enjoying the warm weather and getting out in the mornings before it gets too hot.

Amy is constantly requesting “outside” and “bike”. She gets restless if we don’t go out somewhere.

She wants to explore and learn about the exciting world.

Uncle Stephen and Aunty Kate bought Amy a clam shell for Christmas. She is enjoying learning about building sandcastles and digging with the spade.

She loves being in the water, and drinking it too!

This morning we went to Lane Cove National Park to feed the ducks. (We saw a sign afterwards which said ‘Do not feed the ducks’. Oops!)

Amy is so fascinated by animals, and loved watching the ducks walk, swim and eat the bread.

We then had a play in the sandpit.

It was getting quite hot by this stage (only 10am, but the sun was very strong), so we went home for some lunch.

Amy has mastered the skill of the ring stacker! She is very confident in placing each ring on the stand now.

We hadn’t played with it for a while, but I think they have similar toys at day care, so she has been practicing in secret!

I was very impressed to see her new skill.
