On holidays

A few weeks ago Michael took some time off work for a much needed and well deserved break!

We spent a few nights up on the central coast at a golf resort and caught up with some friends.

Amy had an absolutely lovely time and was so happy everywhere we went. She was fantastic sleeping in the port-a-cot and even did a 7pm-7am stretch, much to our delight!

The most exciting part of Michaels week off work was Amy’s new word: “Dad”

She said it over and over and over all week long and its still a popular word, including “Dada” and “Daddy”.

Here is Amy in her Ergo baby carrier. Its super comfortable and great for when she is a little unsettled.

As Michael and I both play the keyboard, we are hoping Amy will be musical too. She enjoys hitting the keys and listening to us play.

We received an exciting call from Amy’s day care (my work) to say they have a Monday and Tuesday available for Amy to start.

We have orientation next week to spend a few hours there with her, and then she will start on Monday 4th August. She will be 9 months by then.

She’s great at taking the bottle and will hopefully settle in quickly.

Michael and I are excited for this next stage for Amy and know she will be in good hands Smile.

We bought a new rug for Amy to enjoy tummy time and hope to encourage more movement. She loves the rug and moves quite a lot now! She does a lot of circle work and some rolling too.

8 Months Old!

Where does the time go? Our little baby has come so far in the last month, she has really developed quite a personality.

Amy can now clap her hands, often to a verbal request. She thinks she is very clever, and its very cute to watch.

We are also trying to teach her to wave and blow kisses.

She’s also putting toys over her face, like a game of peek-a-boo.

She’s not yet crawling and gets a bit frustrated on her tummy sometimes, but with lots of practice and gentle encouragement she will be moving around before we know it!

She also loves standing holding onto the coffee table or our hands, and even takes some steps.

Amy loves her swing…

Amy fits perfectly sitting in her toy storage boxes. They have wheels on them so we push her around the floor and she LOVES it.

Learning to feed herself…

Amy has been teething a lot in the last month, and has two new teeth up the top. We can also see some more bottom ones which will cut through soon.

You can see her top teeth well in this photo Smile

She can now chew foods much easier and enjoys some crunchier textures such as cucumber with skin and rice cakes.

We haven’t weighed her in a while but she would be over 8kg now for sure. She’s wearing size 0-1 clothes now!

All that food!! She has 3 meals a day and 5 milk feeds.

And the most exciting part of all is Amy now happily will drink from a bottle! We do a bottle 1-2 times a week so she can practice for day care.

She will be starting day care in 2 months at the beginning of September.
