Pa

Amy loves her Pa! We always knew this, but now she can let us know!

The latest word is “Pa”, and she says it over and over and over.

We were driving home from day care this afternoon, and she was chatting away with her usual repertoire, then the “Pa, Pa, Pa” began.

Her speech is amazing. New words this week are:

Pa

Outside

Bike

More

Duck

Bag

We also turned her car seat around to a forward facing position. She enjoyed looking out the window at the other cars.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!

We had a fantastic day celebrating with our beautiful family. We spent the day at Amy’s Nana and Pa’s house.

She had a great time and received many lovely gifts. What a lucky girl!

Rice bubbles – a big hit for Christmas breakfast!

We gave Amy a push-and-go toy car, which was also a big hit!

She loves her doll. It’s called ‘Baby’, as she says that word easily.

Nana and Pa gave her a SmarTrike! Lucky girl!!!

She LOVES this bike. She says the word “bike”, which sounds more like “bise”.

Amy also received lots of other toys, books and a beach towel.

On Sunday we went to Nanna’s house, and celebrated Christmas with Sal, Tracie, Ben, Ethan, Nanna, Heather and Linda.

We had such a lovely day. The kids played, and we all relaxed, ate a beautiful lunch and opened more presents.

Ethan and Ben were given new bikes for Christmas, so we went out in the street with Amy and her new bike, and they all played together.

Merry Christmas!

Family Day Out

Last week we went on a little family outing. We drove to Clarke’s Point and went for a walk.

We showed Amy the boats and fishermen, and she loved watching some dogs play in the water.

We then drove back to Hunter’s Hill to a park which had some ducks. Amy was VERY interested in them! They swam in the water and also walked up towards us.

Amy had a nap in the car on the way, so we enjoyed a beautiful lunch at Via Napoli. They make amazing pizzas!

The waiters kept fussing over Amy, calling her “Bella”.

So Much Talking!

Our little chatterbox is learning new words all the time! She can now say the following:

Mum, Mummy, Mumma

Dad, Daddy, Dadda

Amy

Hi

Bye-bye

Baby

Bah or a-bah which means Bunny

Nanna

Ha-Ha (When asked the question “What does a monkey say?”)

Cheese

Amy’s First Steps!

We have been all waiting patiently for Amy to make her move! On Friday evening we were playing outside and Amy made her first two steps!

Its so exciting to see her grow and develop each day.

On Saturday afternoon we practiced some more and Amy took four steps!

Proud grandparents were lucky enough to witness the big occasion, and video record the moment. Smile

I will try and upload a video soon.

Fun and Games

We can always count on Amy being a good eater. She eats pretty much anything and everything.

She likes food cut into small pieces that she can pick up and put in her mouth (as well as half her hand).

Her favourite foods are cheese, broccoli and egg. She also loves her milk!

We have finished giving her bottles of formula before bed. So she now has a sippy cup of warm cow’s milk as part of her bed time routine.

Amy enjoys watching her Daddy mow our lawn. She laughs and squeals – its quite exciting apparently!

Little cars are also a big hit at the moment. We race them down the hallway and she crawls after them.

She is very very fast at crawling now. So fast that she falls over sometimes!

We love being outdoors in this lovely warm weather. Water play is great fun, and so are pegs!

Amy’s hand eye coordination has really improved lately. She can now stack her mega blocks very well.

She is also lucky enough to have Duplo blocks at Nana and Pa’s house, which gives her lots of building practice.

Amy makes mess, then has fun cleaning it up! She really likes the dust buster, and laughs when I use the big vacuum.

More walking around. She is getting very confident now! It wont be long until she takes some steps!

Santa!

Last week we took Amy to see Santa!

She was very good and didn’t cry while she was getting her photo taken. She smiled on cue and we managed to get this great photo!

She looks so grown up, like a little girl. We asked Santa if she could please have a doll, and told him she had been very good. Winking smile

More teeth!

Yes, more teeth….

I’m always excited for new things in Amy’s life, but definitely not teething. I am happy when it’s over because I don’t like to see her so miserable.

She is generally pretty good about new teeth, but lately it has been the Molars that have given her the most grief.

Just after her birthday she cut her bottom two molars, and now she is cutting her top two.

When these top ones come through she will have 14 teeth!

Despite the pain she still makes us laugh…

What One-Year-Olds Do….

Things are busy around here lately! Between work, day care, housework, and having a 1-year-old - we never stop!

Amy is always doing something, learning something, talking, eating, playing, walking, crawling, teething..

….and sleeping Winking smile

This is what one-year-olds do:

Our cheeky monkey is now fully crawling on hand and knees. She rarely tummy-slides now.

She likes the sounds her hands make on the wooden floor as she crawls along.

Here she is crawling to that blue cup… she loves that cup!

P1010338

Amy spends most of her day crawling over to things, getting up on her feet, cruising around, and then down again.

She also likes switching from coffee table to couch and back again.

And playing piano with Daddy…

P1010173

She hears Michael playing and crawls as fast as she can over to him. She loves the music (and her Daddy).

We love summer! The recent hot weather means Amy can splash in her pool. She had a lovely time!

Amy loves her new toy puppy. It was a birthday present from Steve and Amanda. Thanks guys, its a sure favourite!

Giving puppy a kiss….

P1010266

Amy is getting very good at letting us know what she wants.

She points (often with an open hand or a few fingers) and objects she wants, and we can tell by the tone of her babble if she is asking for something.

She has a clear understanding of quite a few words now. The latest one being ‘puppy’. She also understands ‘water’, ‘book’, ‘ball’, ‘eat/in your mouth’, ‘a kiss’, ‘outside’, ‘bath’, ‘milk/bottle’ and probably a lot more!

We try and speak clearly, repeating the same word several times so she can learn.

Her favourite word to say is ‘Daddy’. And she definitely knows what that means Smile.

Tonight enjoyed some bubbles before bed. It was a bit tricky to blow bubbles and take a photo at the same time though!

In health news – Amy had her 12 month shots on Thursday morning. Apart from being a little sleepy and warm on Thursday, she has been great since then.

She is currently getting three molars. Yes, three. They are very close to cutting through the gum. I can feel these lumpy things just under her gums, and can see bits of white teeth starting to poke through.

This has to be very painful, but she hasn’t been too distressed which is good. I’m not sure how long they will take to come through.

She currently has 8 teeth.
